The best time to calculate body fat is in the morning. This is due to the fact that body measurements and weights are the most accurate when a we have taken 6-8 hours of sleep. So the best possible time to take measurements and apply the formula(given below) is in the morning.
Is is a surprising to find out that millions of people in the world are over weight and their numbers are more likely to increase in the coming years. This is mostly due to the life styles of people. They have made themselves so busy that they hardly have any time to take care of their health. The results are various early age health problems of which being over weight is on top and it is also the basis of many other health problems.
Just like other living beings, humans also requires limited amount of calories in the form of food. Once the upper limit is crossed and the body does not do sufficient amount of physical activity to burn those calories, fat takes its place in various parts such as thighs, hips, abdomen etc.
Body fat percentage is simply the percentage of fat contained in a body. If a person weight is 150 lbs and is 10% fat then he has 15 lbs of fat and 135 lbs of non-fat or lean body i.e organs, bones, muscles etc.
To calculate body fat, the only thing required is a weighing scale, a measuring strip, calculator and the body fat formula which is given below. Note that formula is different for both men and women since they both have slightly different internal and external organs.
Body Fat Calculation For Women:
A = (Total weight x 0.732) + 8.987
B = Wrist measurement (at fullest point) / 3.140
C = Waist measurement (at naval) x 0.157
D = Hip measurement (at fullest point) x 0.249
E = Forearm measurement (at fullest point) x 0.434
Lean Mass = A + B - C - D + E
Fat Weight = Total weight - Lean Mass
Fat (%) = (Fat Weight x 100) / total weight
Body Fat Calculation For Men:
A = (Total weight x 1.082) + 94.42
B = Waist measurement x 4.15
Lean Mass = A - B
Fat Weight = Total weight - Lean Mass
Fat (%) = (Fat Weight x 100) / total weight
Calculating excess body fat is just the first step. Many people just want to know how much extra weight they have and when they do find out they either forget about finding a way to reduce it or they are too lazy to take initiative. Remember that only few people take initiative and go beyond this and those are the ones that do fight with their over weight problem by setting themselves a goal that they always remain focus on and that goal is to get rid of that excess body fat and have a slim and lean structure.
